Imagine those who first sailed these majestic waters in Tule Canoes, walked these rugged lands, and honored the beauty of this region. Experience the culture, history, and sounds of San Francisco Bay as you travel back to a former time, following the story of a Native American family. Discover how landmarks like Yerba Buena Island and Alcatraz Island have played a part in the rich history of local tribes. Learn of efforts being made by Native American descendants and their supporters to preserve the Native American languages, Native American cultures and the history of their people.

Natural History Tour:

Explore the natural history of San Francisco Bay from the marine creatures that live beneath us to the compelling human stories of conservation pioneers, like Ansel Adams and John Muir. Learn how unusual geologic and weather conditions have produced a unique San Francisco Bay ecosystem. Scan the horizon for California Sea Lions, Bay Porpoise, Sevengill Cowsharks, Brown Pelicans, and other creatures of the Bay. Discover how native and non-native plants, animals (like the Parrots of Telegraph Hill) and people co-exist together and create the diverse San Francisco Bay environment.

Departure Point Directions and parking:

• Bay Cruises depart from from PIER 43 1/2 in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf. At the foot of Taylor Street, near the Fisherman's Wharf sign.

• Paid parking lots and very limited metered street parking is available.

Bay Cruise Return Details:

• Bay Cruise concludes at the original departure point in Fisherman's Wharf.
